Extension Activities Report

Under the initiative of the NSS unit of St. Mary’s college Puthanangadi, all the students of the institution along with the Alumni Association joined hands together to provide a shelter for a homeless student under” Abhayam” project. The house warming was held on 15/12/2018. Rev. Fr. Jose Mathew Parayil, The Principal, welcomed all respected dignitaries and the students who assembled there to witness that moment of happiness. The chief guest, Honorable Higher Education Minister, K.T. Jaleel,handed over the key. Rev. Fr. Denny Cholapallil (The vice Principal, St. Mary’s College) Mr. Abdul Navas K.T. (NSS Coordinator) and many other dignitaries of the local governing body were in attendance. Mr. Abdul Navas was appreciated by the University of Calicut and honoured him by issuing a certificate of appreciation

The Department of Commerce in association with IQAC Conducted a book donation camp atGLPS Puthanangadi on 09/06/2022. The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Vincy, Member ofBlock Panjayath. Smt. Fareeda, H M of GLPS Pthanangadi and Rev. Fr. Denny Cholappallil,Principal of St. Mary’s College felicitated in the meeting. The programme was introduced by Dr.Balachandran K. K., HoD of Commerce. Essential study materials were distributed to the students ofGLPS Puthanangadi.

On August 10,2020, the Department of English host a webinar entitled SMART PARENTING; A WEBINAR ON PARENTING. The purpose of the webinar was to provide an awareness to parents and elders of society on practical strategies for effective communication with children. The event was well-attended and witnessed active participation from the parents. The webinar was inaugurated by the respected Principal, Rev. Father Denny Cholappillil and the welcome address was delivered by prof. P.P.John, Head of the Department. The keynote speaker, Mr. Harish Babu, inculcated valuable insights regarding the importance of healthy parenting. His presentation was well-received and the parents enthusiastically interacted with him to seek advice on their parenting challenges. Overall, the webinar was a success and provided a muchneeded platform for parents to engage with experts and learn effective communication strategies with their children

On 18/01/2022 the Department of Psychology in association with IQAC conducted an extension programme with the title STUDENT-TEACHER PROGRAMME AT GOVERNMENT L.P SCHOOL, PUTHANANGADI. Prior permission from school authorities have been taken and it was conducted by the students of 2nd year BSc Psychology. The program was to give 30 minute classes to small graders on various topics. The topics selected were mobile usage, time management, and goal setting. Each topic was selected by a pair of students to perform. The program focused on 3rd and 4th graders of the particular school. The department organized a group of students under the leadership of Ms. Athira Das. It was an enriching experience for all. The program concluded by 12 pm.

On 10/01/2021 the NSS unit of St. Mary’s College, Puthanangadi in association with IQAC conducted an extension programme with the SIGN BOARD CLEANING ON THE SIDE OF SH 73 FROM ANGADIPURAM TO PUTHANANGADI. SH 73 connects the town and the renowned hospital of the city, MES Medical College, holds an important place in the district map. A road which is being used by thousands of patients and others regularly, has very pathetic sign boards that are highly in need of a makeover. Acknowledging this necessity, the socially devoted NSS Volunteers of St Mary’s College Puthanagadi, cleaned the signboards on either side of the road that runs from Angadipuram to Puthanangadi . An action which was highly necessary and vital was completed by the students with wholehearted dedication and commitment.
