St. Mary’s college turned to be the first educational institution of CFIC in India when it was officially inaugurated by district collector of Malappuram, Shri. James Varghese IAS, in a public meeting presided over by Bishop of Thamarasseri, Mar Jacob Thoomkuzhi, on 17th June 1996. Initially the college offered Pre- Degree courses (pvt) and in the succeeding years the institution marked its presence with private studies in BA History, BA Economics, Bsc Maths, BA English and B.com. Sr. Udaya (CMC) of first batch secured first rank in BA History. In the academic year of 2005-2006,the college became an off campus center of MG University and in 2010 the campus was affiliated to The University of Calicut. Many students have obtained ranks in various streams and the recent achiever is Sreelakshmi B as she bagged first rank in MA English in 2016-18. Today, St. Mary’s college opens a vast opportunity for aspirants as it offers graduation in English, History, Economics, Political Science, Physics, Maths, BCA, Psychology, B.Com Cooperation, B.com Finance, B.com Computer Application, BBA along with post graduation in English and Commerce.

The college has grown into one of the major educational institutions in Perinthalmanna with 1500 students, 80 teaching and 25 non teaching staffs. The college is obliged to Rev. Fr. Jose Mathew Parayil, Rev. Fr. Antony Tharakanparambil, Rev.Fr. Martin Cherumadathil, Rev. Fr. Shaji Ullattil and Rev.Fr. Binu P D for their selfless service as principals over the years. At Present Rev. Fr. Denny Cholappallil is the in charge of St. Mary’s college. NSS, Malayalavedi, Associations of English, History, Commerce, Maths, Computer, Physics, Psychology and Economics are being encouraged and supported by the management as the college aims for overall achievement of students. Students of St. Mary’s college have proven their talents in Calicut University C-Zone, InterZone and Inter university competitions. The prime objective of St. Mary’s college is to build a quality and disciplined generation.

 
 

About CFIC

The Congregation of the Sons of the Immaculate Conception was founded in rome on September 8th, 1857 by the blessed Luigi Maria Monti.In 1857 padre Monti arrived in the holy spirit hospital and founded the congregation of the Sons of the Immaculate Conception with the scope of assisting the sick and educating those youth in need. With the Immaculate virgin as the mother and the patroness, the congregation first spread in Rome, Lazio, Orte, Civita Castellana, Nepi, and Capranica. Until his death in 1900 Luigi Monti spent his energy also giving religious formation to his religious brothers so as to continue to serve the needy and abandoned.

Today members of the congregation include brothers, priests, doctors, pharmacists, teachers, lab technicians and nurses. The CFIC is present in over 20 countries all around the world including italy, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, India, Cameroon, the Philippines and more! Many of these facilities work alongside existing agencies and other religious orders and fulfill welfare services in such places as leper colonies, institutes for the handicapped, community centres for the mentally ill, shelters for families and children in need, secondary schools, assistance for homeless and street children, inhabitants of favelas (squatter settlements), hospital facilities and counselling for the sick.

The Congregation of the Sons of the Immaculate Conception(CFIC)is a religious Congregation founded in Italy on 8th September 1857 by Blessed Luigi Maria Monti. Bl. Luigi was a religious brother who dedicated his life for caring the sick and educating the poor and needy youth. He founded CFIC under the patronage of Mother Mary Immaculate for actualising his mission of caring and educating the needy youth. At present, the Congregation is present with this mission around 22 countries including Italy, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, India, Cameroon, the Philippines, Canada, America, France, Germany, Australia, Korea etc. Following the footsteps of Bl. Luigi Monti, the members of CFIC in India are dedicating themselves in various charitable activities like caring the sick and needy, educating the youth etc. in different parts of India. St. Marys college is one of those Institutions of CFIC in India. St. Marys College was established in the year 1996 at Luigi Bhavan Campus which is an educational complex of CFIC.

 

About Luigi Bhavan

Blessed Luigi Maria Monti, founder of Sons of Immaculate Conception, influenced Italy socially and culturally in the 19th century. As a person with unusual powers of foresight, he founded the congregation (CFIC) in Rome, capital of Italy, in 1857 as it’s prime aim is to provide education to youth. Based on the vision of the great soul, today CFIC has spread across 20 countries over 4 continents with number of educational institutions and charities. In 1973 CFIC extended its activities to India by starting a monastery named Sons of Immaculate Conception in Kottayam as it’s headquarters. In 1990 CFIC laid foundation for Luigi Bhavan in Puthanangadi, Malappuram district, under Pariyapuram parish of Thamarasseri diocese. In a period when society was stumbling with less number of higher educational institutions, Luigi Bhavan set about a number of institutions including St.Marys college, St. Joseph’s School and Monti Institute of International Studies with a purport to offer idealistic and superior educational values.

 

Luigi Bhavan is situated in the Diocese of Thamarassery, at Puthanangady in Malappuram District in Kerala. It was founded with the aim of giving education to the youth and caring of the physically and mentally handicapped. The community was opened by Rev. Fr. Aurelio Mozzetta, the Superior General of C.F.I.C and blessed by Bishop Nicola De Angelis, Auxiliary Bishop of Toronto on 15th January 1995. It is a matter of joy to say that it could achieve a lot in the realization of its objectives. St. Mary’s College, St. Joseph’s school, Monti International Institute of Management is the fields of apostolic activities that come under Luigi Bhavan through which C.F.I.C marks its presence at Puthanangady.

The cultural and social influence of Bl. Luigi Maria Monti, the founder of CFIC was remarkable in Italy during 19th century. As a person with unusual powers of foresight and vision he founded so many educational Institutions in various parts of Italy. Following his vision and mission, his followers started branches of CFIC in different parts of the world. In india it started its first branch in Kottayam. CFIC India has extended its mission of education to different parts of India. In India it has extensions in Kerala, Tamilnadu, Karnadaka, Andrapredesh, Orisa where it runs various Institutions like schools, colleges, nursing colleges, orphanages, handicaped centres, old age homes etc. LuigiBhavan is one of its educational complex where we have three Institutions such as St.Marys college, Monti Ineternational Institute of management studies and St. Joseph English medium school. Luigi Bhavan campus which situates at puthanangadi, perinthalmanna in Malappuram district, started in the year 1990 under Mariapuram parish in the jurisdiction of Thamarassery Dioces In a period when the people of Malappuram was in need of quality educational Institutions, CFIC India started Luigi Bhavanwith its multiple educational Institutions setting the objectives of imparting quality and value education to the youth of the area.
