1.DEPARTMENT ASSOCIATION INAUGURATION

The inauguration of the Political science Association was held on 21st November 2019, at the college auditorium. It was a proud moment for St. Mary's college Puthanangadi because it's the first association inauguration of the political science department. The chief guest for the occasion was Muhammed Musthafa, Superintendent of the Registration department. The event was formally inaugurated by our respected Principal Fr. Jose Mathew Parayil. Our Vice-principal Fr. Denny Cholappallil Presided over the meeting. The chief guest of the event Muhammed Mustafa delivered keynote address it was very informative. He has done a class on 'Political Science- its relevance in contemporary India'. Dr. Balachandran HOD of Commerce, Pro. John Sir HOD of English, Ms. Sreedevi HOD of Economics extended their felicitation. Mr. Muhammed Rafi HOD of the Political science Department welcomed the gathering and association secretory Ms. Varna Proposed vote of thanks. After the session students performed various Colourful cultural programs. All the programs of the association day turned out to be a colossal success with the active involvement and the team spirit of the faculties and students.

2.GANDHI JAYANTHI 2019- QUIZ COMPETITION

Department of Political Science celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi on 3rd October at college Seminar Hall. Our Respected Vice-principal Fr. Denny Cholappallil Inaugurated the function. After the inaugural session department conducted an inter-department Quiz competition. The Department HOD Mr. Muhammed Rafi Presided over the Programme.

Several students participated in the competition and various areas of knowledge and current affairs and Gandhi and the Indian independence movement, and his life and work were explored in the quiz. The participants were selected through a small screening test. Nada Shabeerali and Sandra Pullanikkat from the Department of English won first prize in the competition.

The competition helped our students with a self-assessment that is where they stands in terms there out of their syllabus knowledge. The moderator also winds up the section by explaining the relevance of Gandhian ideas in the current world. The department HOD has distributed Cash Prizes for the winners

3. STAND WITH WALAYAR VICTIMS- THUMB PRINT CAMPAIGN

On 01-11-2019 our department conducted a program on walayar Rape Case. The Program wanted justice for those minor victims. Respected Principal Fr. Jose Mathew Parayil inaugurated the program. Vice Principal Fr. Denny Cholappallil and HOD of the Department Mr. Muhammed Rafi addressed the program. Our Department Students prepared a curtain and paints. Every student and teaching and non-teaching staff attended the program and they expressed their stand with the victims through thumb Print. It was a creative program for response to our social issues. This program helped to aware of the importance of justice for all sections of society. Ms. Varna association secretory proposed a vote of thanks.

4. CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

On 18-12-2019 our department celebrated Christmas and New Year together with great fun and frolic. The whole department class was decorated in a good manner. Respected Principal Fr. Jose Mathew Parayil, Vice Principal Fr. Denny Cholappallil, and HOD of the Department Mr. Muhammed Rafi Delivered Christmas and New Year message for whole students. After the session distributed the Christmas cake. Cultural programs started with Christmas Carole, students performed dances and songs on the occasion. Many fun games also conducted this day. HOD of the department Mr. Muhammed Rafi distributed prizes for the winners and the Association secretory expressed vote of thanks.

1.Webinar on "Democracy and the public sphere in India: structural Transformations In progress" August 12, 2020

The Department of political science St. Mary's college conducted a webinar on the topic of "Democracy and the public sphere in India: structural Transformations In progress" on 12.8.2020. Around 200 participants comprising Students, Research Scholars, and Teachers from various Colleges attended the Webinar. The event started with an inaugural address by Respected Principal Rev. Father Denny Cholappilly and Vice Provincial Rev. Vargheeskochuparambil done Presidential address. Mr. Rafi, Head of the department introduced the Chief Guest. Well known media person Dr. Arun Kumar (Assistant professor of political Science, Kerala University) presented a very effective talk on this topic. He stressed the different perspective and nature of democracy in India. Many students Participated in Question-Answer Session. The session was concluded by a vote of thanks from Hari student of the Political Science department.

2.SRAVANOTSAV2K20 AUGUST 27, 2020

Department of Political Science Conducted Onam Celebration in a Grand and through online mode. Onam celebration has been conducted on the 27th August 2020 in Google Meet at 10 am. The Programme was started with the Onam traditional song of Akhila Third semester Political Science Student. Ms. Varna, Political Science department Secretory Presided over the Function. Fr. Denny Cholappillil Principal of St. Mary's college Puthanagadi inaugurated the function. Mr. Rafi Head of the Department and Faculty Mr. Mohammed Suhail C Conveyed Onam Message to the Students. Everyone talked relevance of Onam during this Pandemic Period.

After the inaugural session Students Performed various Programmes like ONAPPATT, recitation, Speech, etc. All students in the department participated in the whole Programme in a good manner.

3. INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY CELEBRATION SEPTEMBER 8, 2020

St. Mary's College Puthanagadi, Department of Political Science Celebrated World Literacy Day in an effective manner in this Pandemic situation. Department Student Made Various Informative Digital Posters Talking About the Importance of Literacy

This program was a great initiative for the students to encourage and promote the value of education and this program was used to raise the value of education and its basic right to every citizen. This program helped to remained the importance of literacy and education for getting a job, moreover for the development of mental health.

4. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF DEMOCRACY SEPTEMBER 15

Department of Political Science Conducted International day of Democracy Celebration. Students of the Department made a short vlog on the Topic Of 'Importance of Democracy'. As Well as department Published Posters related to Relevance democracy in the COVID Pandemic Days.

The whole program was given more importance for the Democracy day theme 'COVID-19: A spotlight on Democracy'. The program shares idea about more democratizes world affairs especially the health sector to face this pandemic. Cooperation among nations for facing this pandemic is very necessary, so the webinar stressed relevance democratize the whole world. Department students presented different thoughts and ideas about the theme. Every student in the department is done excellent work.

5. INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY CELEBRATION SEPTEMBER 21

Our department celebrated international Day of peace very effective manner. Peace day this year was very important because the whole world suffering and moving tuff situations during the COVID Pandemic. We conducted an intercollegiate Poster making competition on the theme of 'Shaping Peace Together'. We put a date limit and some rules and regulations for the program. Various students participated from different colleges. Every participant sent their work into the department mail id. NSS coordinator Mr Narayanan and Mrs. Rajeena Head of History Department are judges for this program. The team of judges selected SHAMILA JAHAN5th Semester English, Mankada Government College Kolathuras the winner.

6. GANDHI JAYANTHI- WEB OPEN FORUM OCTOBER 2, 2020

Department of Political Science St. Mary's college Puthanagadi celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi on 2-10-2020 Through Google Meet. As a part of this special day, the Political science Department conducted a web forum related to Gandhi. The Programme inaugurated our respected Principal Rev. Fr. Denny Cholappallil and Mohammed Rafi head of the department done presidential Address. Many students participated in this Talk and deliver their understandings about Gandhi. This Program was very informative For the Students as well as Teachers. Around 30 Students from Various departments of St. Mary's college participated in this program. The session was concluded by a vote of thanks from the Mohammed Suhail Faculty of Political Science department

7. CONSTITUTION DAY CELEBRATION- WEBINAR 26, November 2020

The 71st Anniversary of the adoption of our constitution was celebrated in the Department of Political Science St. Marys College Puthanagadi on November 26, 2020. As a part of this auspicious day, the political science Department Conducted a webinar on the topic of "Understanding the constitutional values in the preamble". The Programme inaugurated our respected Principal Rev. Fr. Denny Cholappallil and Mohammed Rafi head of the department done presidential Address. The Topic Presented by Chief Guest of the program miss. Aparna K U, Lecturer of Political science Department Kerala University. She stressed the values of The Preamble and Its Relevance in Contemporary India. Many students Participated in Question-Answer Session. The session was concluded by a vote of thanks from Varna students of the Political Science department.

8. NEOPHYTES - FRESHERS DAY DECEMBER 7 2020

Department of Political Science, St. Marys College conducted Freshers Day Program for welcoming First Year Students of The Department. Program Conducted by 'EXOSIA' (Political Science Association) on December 7, 2020, at 10 clocks through Google meet. It was very entertaining for everyone. Association Secretory Varna did welcome speech and Respected principal Rev. father Denny Cholappallil Inaugurated this program. Mr. Mohammed Rafi HOD of the Department and Mohammed Suhail faculty of the department, Rajeena Philip HOD of History department Delivered felicitation for this program. After the inaugural session, every fresher introduced themself and performed different skills like sing, acting, etc. various games and cultural programs conducted as a part of this program. The program ended at 1 o clock. The session was concluded by a vote of thanks from Mr. Hari student of the Political Science department.

9.WORLD HUMAN RIGHTS DAY CELEBRATION - WEBINAR DECEMBER 10

The department of Political science, St. Mary's College Puthanagadi, World Human Rights Day Celebrated on 10th December 2020 at 10 pm through Online Mode. As part of this Day Department organized a Webinar on the Topic "Human Security as a Human Right in The Post COVID Era". The program Inaugurated by Respected principal Fr. Denny Cholappallil and Topic Presented by Shibu MP, Assistant Professor, Department of Political science, NSS College Pandalam. Mohammed Rafi, HOD of the Political Science department presided over the program and Welcome Speech Done by Mohammed Suhail, Faculty of Political Science Department St. Marys College Puthanagadi. He raised various facts related to Human rights and human security. Many students Participated in the Question-Answer Session. The session was concluded by a vote of thanks from Varna students of the Political Science department.
