ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE

Attendance
  1. Students should attend all the hours in the academic schedule.

  2. Punctuality is an ingredient of discipline. Coming late to classes is a source of disturbance to both the teacher and the class.

  3. A common attendance register is maintained with the attendance taken at 9.30 am and 1.30 pm. Attendance is given only within the first five minutes of the hour. A student who does not answer when the roll call is taken or who arrives after the roll call maybe marked absent.

  4. The registers will be transferred to the office immediately and the attendance will be granted only to the students who were present while taking the attendance.

  5. Each teacher also maintains a separate attendance register for each course/subject within the semester. It is taken during every class hours. The names of the students who are irregular shall be reported to the principal.

  6. Marks will be allotted as per attendance for each of the course, as part of internal assessment.

  7. Absence for one period during the day will be considered absence for half a day.

  8. Students are strictly forbidden from cutting classes. If there is sufficient reason to forego one class they must get prior permission from the respective lecturer;but leave for more than one class and to exit college campus permission should be procured from the Principal.

  9. The attendance of each student will be totaled at the end of the semester. Periodic information will be sent to the parent or guardian of the student for information and suitable action.

  10. A candidate shall attend at least a minimum of 85% of the number of class actually held for each of the courses in a semester to be eligible for appearing for examination in that course. If the candidate has shortage of attendance in any course in a semester he/she shall not be allowed to appear for any examination in that year. However the University may condone shortage if the candidate applies for it as laid down in University procedures and if the Vice Chancellor is satisfied with the reasons cited- by the candidate for his absence in classes.

  11. A student who is not eligible for condonation of shortage of attendance shall repeat the course along with the subsequent batch.

Casual Leave (CL)
  1. For taking, students have to apply for the same, generally 24 hours before .

  2. Application for leave must be submitted in proper forms given at the time of parents meeting, failing which, leave will not be granted.

  3. The leave form must be endorsed and signed by the parent/guardian.

  4. If a student is absent without applying leave his/her absence will be immediately being reported to parents. Principal may have the right to inflict disciplinary actions such as fining, suspension or any action proper.

  5. Medical Certificate should be produced when casual leave applied for more than three days due to sickness.

  6. student who is absent without leave for ten consecutive working days stands the risk of having his/her name to be cut from the register.

  7. No student will be granted more than ten days of casual leave in the year and more than seven at a stretch inclusive of Saturdays and Sundays.

Medical Leave (ML)
  1. In case of illness, if absence last for three or more days, the absentee shall submit a medical certificate, and the period of absence will be treated as on medical leave. Leave on Other Duty (OD)/Compensatory Leave

  2. of attendance may be granted to students deputed to participate the approved activities of the College/University (Zonal/Interzone, Intercollegiate Arts/Sports Competitions, N.S.S. or any similar activities) with the prior concurrence of the Principal. It is called leave on other duty.

  3. It should be limited to nine days in a semester.

  4. Participants should fill in proper form meant for OD, get it countersigned by concerned professor in charge, and submit applications to the respective class tutors immediately after the completion of the event. Separate applications are required for discontinues days. Those who fail to do so shall be considered as absentees.

  5. A student who is absent without leave for ten consecutive working daysstands the risk of having his/her name to be cut from the register.

  6. Students going for practice during class hours for a college function can get attendance only with the explicit directive from the Principal. Taking leaves students have to apply for leave, ordinarily 24 hours before it can be availed of. Application for leave must be submitted in proper forms given at the time of parents meeting, failing which, leave will not be granted.
