Extension Activities Report

St. Mary’s college,Puthanangadi visited a colony atChakkalakuth, Nilambur on 28/08/2019 and provided them with kits included essential commodities. Rev. Fr. Jose Mathew Parayil( The Principal, St. Mary’s college) ,Rev. Fr. Denny Cholappali(The Vice Pricipal, St. Mary’s college) Mr Narayanan(NSScoordinator) Mr. Boban K Varghese( Asst. Professor, Dept. of English) Mr. Binoy Nilambur and all the volunteers of NSS took part in the flood relief.

NSS volunteers of St. Mary’s College,Puthanangadi, took an initiative to collect fund for Pain and Palliative, Perinthalmanna unit on 30/01/2021. NSS volunteers sought the contribution of travelers, auto drivers and people who arrived at the market and shopping malls. They exhibited pluck cards to highlight the values of charity.

As a part of Covid-19 defense,the NSS volunteers of St.Mary’sCollegePuthanangadi distributed masks to traders and auto drivers in Puthanangadi and Perinthalmanna on 02/10/2010 and proved their social commitment. Fr. Denny Cholappallil( The Principal,St. Mary’s college) Rev. Fr. VargheseKochuparambil (The Vice Principal) and Mr. Narayanan(NSS coordinator) were there to coordinate the programme.

NSS volunteers of St. Mary’s college Puthanangadi cleaned the premises of the Co-operative Milk Supply Society, Pariyapuram on 22/12/2019. NSS Coordinator, Mr Narayanan, monitored the activities of the students. All Second Year NSS volunteers participated and proved their social commitment.

On 18/08/2019 NSS volunteers of St. Mary’s college Puthanangadi extended their hands to help the peopleofPothukal, Nilambur, who faced a dreadful flood that took away all their valuables and made their lives miserable. Mr. Narayanan, NSS coordinator, organized and monitored the activities of the students and the entire team was appreciated by the honourableVice Chancellor Dr. K Mohammed Basheer, University of Calicut.

As a part of upholding social commitments, a blood donation camp was organized by the NSS students of St. Mary’s college in collaboration with HDFC bank Perinthalmanna& Blood Bank Perinthalmanna on 12/11/2019 for the First year Degree students. More than fifty students donated blood and showed their social commitment. The event was organized by first year NSS students and monitored by Mr. Narayanan( NSS coordinator). Rev fr. Denny Cholappallil(The Principal, St. Mary’s college) and Dr. K Balachandran ( HOD of Commerce Dept.) conveyed felicitation.

Under the guidance of NSS unit, students of St. Mary’s college, Puthanangadi conducted a Covid survey on 28th and 29th of December 2020. Students visited Covid affected areas in Perinthalmanna and collected details of Covid patients. Trained volunteers of NSS gave precautionary instructions to defend the pandemic. Fifty NSS volunteers took part in the campaign under the leadership of Mr. Narayanan, NSS Coordinator

NSS unit of St. Mary’s college Puthanangadi initiated to provide drinking water facility to two tribal families living at Cheerattamala, Pariyapuram. NSS unit set up a water tank of 1000 ltr and related facilities. Ms. Vincy Anil, Member of Block Panchayath, inaugurated the initiative. Rev. Fr. Denny Cholappallil, the Principal, Rev.Fr. Varghese Kochuparambil, the Vice- Principal, Mr. Narayanan, NSS coordinator, Mr. BijumonScaria, IQAC coordinator and other dignitaries of local governing body were present.

St. Mary’s college, Puthanangadi extended its helping hands to a family who lost their home in 2019 flood. College initiated to relocate them to a safe area in Chundampatta, Koppam and decided to pay an amount of 3500 per month as rent for an year. Rev. Fr. Denny Cholappallil, the Vice- Principal along with NSS coordinator Mr. Narayanan took initiative and handed over the amount to the family.

NSS unit of St. Mary’s college, as a part of Swachh Bharath Mission, cleaned the sides of SH 73 from Puthanangadi to MES Medical college, Malaparamba on 24th December 2019. Mr. Narayanan, coordinator of NSS unit, led fifty students in the activity.

To save nature, NSS unit of St. Mary’s college conducted a campaign on 25th December 2019. Fifty NSS volunteers, under the leadership of Mr. Narayananan, NSS coordinator, planted trees on both sides of SH 73( Valanchery- Nilambur state highway). A meeting was held to entrust a few students to take care of the planted trees.

Under the initiative of NSS unit of St. Mary’s college Puthanangadi, all the students of the institution along with the Alumni Association joined hands together to provide a shelterfor a homeless student under ”Abhayam” project. The house warming was held on 15/12/2018. Rev. Fr. Jose Mathew Parayil, The Principal, welcomed all respected dignitaries and the students who assembled there to witness that moment of happiness. The chief guest, Honorable Higher Education Minister, KT Jaleel, handed over the key. Rev. Fr. Denny Cholapallil (The vice Principal, St. Mary’s College) Mr. Abdul Navas( NSS Coordinator) and many other dignitaries of the local governing body were in attendance. Mr. Abdul Navas was appreciated by the University of Calicut and honoured him by issuing a certificate of appreciation.
